Every Singaporean has an opinion about curry puffs, and the Curry Pie invites the comparison. It takes the idea of curry chicken and potato in pastry and scales it up into a full-sized Don pie.
What is in the Curry Pie?
The menu describes curry spices with chicken chunks and potato, and pictures the pie with half an egg inside, as in the Original. The crust is the same golden, flaky pastry used across the range.
How much is it?
$6.80 personal, the same as the Original, and $38.80 whole, which is $5 more than the whole Original. Prices are as of October 2026, from the February 2026 menu. Check the official site before you go, and see the full Don Pie menu for every size and price.
What does it taste like? Our notes
This section is our opinion.
The curry is the warm, rounded kind, not a sharp chilli-led one. Potato soaks it up, the chicken carries it, and the egg, which in the Original is a gentle richness, becomes a little reservoir of curry by the time you reach it. It is the most “local” tasting pie in the range, and the one we would bring to someone who claims not to like chicken pie.
The obvious question is whether it is just a big curry puff. It is not. A curry puff is mostly crust with a pocket of filling; this is mostly filling with a crust around it. If anything, it eats more like a curry chicken rice in pastry form. For a fuller chicken pie vs curry puff comparison, pastry, filling and all, donchickenpie.com has done the homework.
How does it compare with the other savoury pies?
| Pie | Spice | Personal | Whole |
|---|---|---|---|
| Original Chicken | Gentle spice blend | $6.80 | $33.80 |
| Black Pepper Chicken | Sharp black pepper | $6.80 | $33.80 |
| Curry | Warm curry spices | $6.80 | $38.80 |
| Beef | Rich, wine-braised | $13.80 | $58.80 |
Who is it for?
- Curry puff loyalists who want something more substantial.
- Groups who already have an Original on the table and want contrast.
- Anyone who prefers local flavours to a creamy, European-style filling.
Where can I buy it?
Pies are sold at all five outlets, subject to stock. The kiosks close early when they sell out, so order ahead for a whole Curry Pie. See the outlet guide.
Is it halal?
No pork, no lard; not Halal-certified. See is Don Pie halal.
