The Apple Pie

After two savoury pies, someone at the table always asks whether there is anything sweet. There is: the Apple Pie, the one dessert in a range of savoury pies.

What is in the Apple Pie?

The menu says apples and nuts, roasted low, with raisins and cinnamon, in the golden, flaky crust used for the whole range. Roasting low rather than stewing keeps the apple in pieces, so you get texture rather than purée.

How much is it?

This is an old-fashioned apple pie in the best sense: spiced rather than sugary, with raisins giving pockets of sweetness and the nuts adding crunch. The crust, which is designed to hold a savoury filling, makes it more substantial than a café apple tart. It is good warm, and good cold the next morning with coffee, within the brand’s chilling advice.

If you want a lighter end to a meal, it is a lot of pie. Share a personal one.
